Hyderabad: Disaster management exercise on September 23, 2017

Hyderabad, September 08, 2017: ‘Pralay Sahayam’, a conceptualized Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise supported by the TS Government in conjunction with the armed forces and other agencies will be conducted at Hussain Sagar Lake on Sept. 23.

The exercise to be conducted under the aegis of Southern Command headquarters with guidance from Sudarshan Chakra Corps and coordinated by Bison Division will see the participation of all national, state and district-level disaster management personnel along with those from armed forces, NDMA, NDRF, NGOs and other civil agencies. Representatives of Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala dealing with disaster management have also been invited to the meeting as also ‘friendly’ foreign countries. The disaster management representatives from Embassies of some countries in New Delhi and Consulates/ High Commissions here have been invited.

The exercise aims to synergize the efforts of the agencies and to build confidence among the populace with regards to the capabilities towards mitigation of disasters and support available especially during massive urban flooding occurring in the cities, a press release said.
